Shido

Name: Shido Tatsuhiko (real name unknown)
Age:Who really knows for sure? He looks to be about 25, give or take.
Seiyuu:Takumi Yamazaki
Voice Actor:Vincent Hatcher (AKA Kenshin from the tv series dub)
History: Very little is known about Shido's life before he became a vampire. The one person who could possibly help him with this is Cain, the same man who gave Shido his vampiric powers centuries ago in Transylvania. Enter the antagonist Cain, and with him he brings somewhat of a plot, something about Golden Dawn... too busy watching Shido to pay attention.
Description: Shido is a (sexy!) modern-day Vampire Detective working with investigator/bloodgiver/love interest Yayoi Matsunaga(first name first) to solve supernatural crimes for the NOS. His little secretary/assistant/adoptee Riho Yamazaki also works in the office.
Interesting Facts:
>Shido does not have a driver's license.(But he drives just fine in episode 1... can't say the same for his wacko driving in episode 2)
>Shido has a weird naked demon-thing, Guni, living in his hair.
>Apparently, Shido is not into haute couture... he still dresses like it's the 1800s. But he's got good fashion sense, regardless... come on, top hats are still cool!
>If I saw Shido walking down the street he would probably be pronounced glomped to death shortly after.

The sassy sexy sidekick... kind of a mandatory staple for a vampire detective show, am I right? Besides aiding Shido with her special silver-jacketed bullets and investigative expertise, she also provides a little blood of her own whenever he needs a boost.

Japanese Voice: Maaya Sakamoto (famous for Hitomi of Tenkuu no Escaflowne)
English Voice: Dorothy Melendrez
Originally serving as secretary-in-training, little orphaned Riho eventually establishes herself as part of the team. A bright personality, Riho is the perfect image of naïveté. There's a lot more than meets the eye about Riho, but you'll just have to watch to find out why...

English Voice: Sandy Fox (she sang the English version of Sobakasu for Rurouni Kenshin TV series)
What IS it? It's a Guni! Shido's bizarro nudist shoulder demon. I think this character is just there for a little comedic relief.

- Cain (sometimes Kain)
Japanese Voice: Hideyuki Tanaka
English Voice: Lex Lang (woohoo!)
Cain is the dark, mysterious undead guy that just won't leave Shido alone. He is working with the dark side to bring about the Golden Dawn, and trying to convince Shido to do the same. Of course, it doesn't help that these two have an...intimate past between them. Does Cain still have some persuasive power over Shido?

Buck Tick - Opening Theme
This is a cool one... This guy has quite the sexy voice...heheh. I've heard some of his other songs and they seem more natural to his voice, but this is a cool one too. Kind of chilly and slow-paced, with a driving bit in the background... a nice one for your collection.

La'Cryma Christi - Ending Theme
Oh man I adore this song... :) The guitar solos will pick you up any time of the day when you need it. Plus, the vocals are really good; La'Cryma Christi is sort of an underappreciated JRock band... but they're so good, really. This song is quite upbeat and empowering... I like it better than the opening theme, but mostly because of that awesome guitar line. :)

Title Song
This song is played right when they introduce the name and episode number. The sound in the middle is of crows... eh, you kind of have to see the sequence to enjoy it.

- Just one window at the moment. But it's kind of cool... if you didn't know, i have a thing about Shido's eyes.

NOTES:
As I was watching the first tape{yes, tape... i don't have DVD :( }, I thought it would be fun if I took some notes as I watched to kind of give you a feel of things that go through your mind when Shido's on the screen :)

Episode 1
- Hehe. I like the intro more every time I see it.
- Man, I swear, everyone in this show drives CRAZY. No wonder your car wrecked mister, you were only goin' 140 on the highway.
- Man cops are stupid. Even in anime-no, especially in anime.
- I always wonder-What exactly goes on between Yayoi and Shido?
- I usually can't stand Dorothy Melendrez, but she's pretty good as Riho, i guess... Maybe I just don't like Riho.
- What would Shido do without Guni?
- Shido's so multitalented... he can suck blood, drive a car, hold a conversation with his demon, and look good all at the same time.
- Just want to take this opportunity to say... Lex Lang Rocks!
- Yayoi drives a jalopy.
- AAh! Scary hair! This tape is full of scary hair.
Episode 2
- Eww , um, I'm eating lunch, so maybe I'll skip this episode...
cannibalism + Ramen noodles = spoiled appetite.
Episode 3
- In this episode, I feel real sorry for the guy that got shot, but... Why couldn't he just die? It woulda made everything so much less complicated...
- Some parts of this show remind me so much of Interview With a Vampire... later on especially.
- I can't figure out if Shido was kidding about the stainless steel thing or not.

- Shido's office is ghetto. His blinds are falling apart!
- face rippage, acid spit... only thing this episode is missing is scary hair.
Episode 4 - I never really liked this episode. I know it's important to the plot, but it's frustrating and confusing too.
- And once again, I cannot stress enough how ultimately awesome Lex Lang is. Maybe I should make a shrine for him? no, that'd be creepy :D
- Ahh, will the sexual innuendoes never cease?
- I love Guni, she's so adorable!
- I really could have done without seeing Riho half-naked, thank you.
- Shido, you really are too cute, y'know that?
